I am looking to undertake a lot of new personal projects as well as new freelance work and I want to finally upgrade my personal home computer to a pretty mighty workstation that I can use to comfortably take models up to tens of millions of polygons during final detailing stages. As I am a sculptor for physical product and not a games artist, I often end up with very dense models where every single surface detail has to be captured sharply as real geometry, which can get very demanding with very fine details.
Now I am working in a design studio I use an Intel i7 8700K machine with 16GB RAM, which is great for the majority of my work but does begin to struggle slightly during the later stages of projects when I am detailing multi-million polygon models with numerous SubTools. I am relatively new to working professionally - I struggled through my first year doing freelance miniature sculpting in Zbrush using a gaming laptop I'd bought for uni, which was. I am a digital sculptor/3D designer, making stuff for the merchandise, miniatures and collectibles industries, along with personal concept art projects.
Wondering if anyone with Zbrush or general 3D art experience could feedback on my proposed build. New to these forums and also to custom-built PCs, having previously gone with off-the-shelf machines.
